Bar and restaurant owners seek county’s help to fully reopen

Richland County bar and restaurant owners say they should be allowed to be fully opened during the hours allowed under their state liquor permits. A group of a half dozen owners and operators met Tuesday with the Richland County commissioners to present statistics and arguments they hope the board can use to convince Gov. Mike DeWine to immediately remove the 10 p.m. restriction on the sale of alcohol that was issued in late July to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Christine Ha’s New Vietnamese Restaurant, Xin Chao, Now Open in The Heights

Xin Chao, the hotly-anticipated, new restaurant from Masterchef winner and Houstonian Christine Ha, is now open in The Heights.

Ha has teamed up with Tony J. Nugyen — chef at the beloved Saigon House, known for spicy “H-town Bang” crawfish and brisket pho — to open the restaurant in the former Beaver’s digs at 2310 Decatur. The restaurant opened quietly last week.

Ha started gaining accolades in Houston and beyond in 2012, after winning first place in season three of the Fox cooking show Masterchef. In 2018, she opened her first restaurant, The Blind Goat, inside Bravery Chef Hall in Downtown.

Sonic adds Halloween-inspired drinks to its menu

DALLAS (NEXSTAR) — If you’re looking for a fall treat that doesn’t include pumpkin spice, Sonic may be the place to turn.

The popular burger and drink chain announced it is adding “Trick or Treat Blasts” to its menu.

So what does that mean? They’re tossing all of your favorite Halloween candy into a single shake. The vanilla or chocolate-flavored drinks feature M&M minis along with pieces of Snickers and Oreos.

“By packing in bites of Halloween favorites in each spoonful, we’ve captured the thrill
of digging into a trick or treat haul in one frozen treat, served Sonic style,” said Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic, in a news release.

The Trick or Treat Blasts will only be available through November 1.
