State police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of the Casablanca Restaurant Friday. 10/2/20
A Friday morning shooting outside Casablanca Restaurant left two people dead, one at the scene and one at a local hospital.
Delaware State Police have released few details about the shooting, which occurred around 1 a.m., but said it happened in the Moroccan restaurant’s parking lot on Route 13 near New Castle.
The person who died on scene, a 28-year-old man from Wilmington, could be seen under a sheet on a grassy area near the asphalt parking lot. The other victim, a 30-year-old also from Wilmington, was taken by private car to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victims’ names are being withheld until family members are notified.

After the shooting, troopers could be seen walking in and out of an area roped off with crime scene tape. At least 20 evidence markers were placed on the ground where shell casings were located.
The evidence markers were clustered in at least two separate areas of the parking lots.
Numerous police from several agencies, including New Castle County and the Delaware River and Bay Authority, responded to the incident. Bystanders could be seen hugging and crying near the scene.
According to the restaurant’s website, it closes at 11:30 p.m. on Thursdays, and was not open at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said there were still a number of cars in the parking lot when the shooting occurred, however.
Police have not given a motive for the shooting, nor have they said how many people were in the parking lot when the shots rang out.
