Biloxi Boardwalk Marina is closing after 10 years and $6 million in investment, the management of the East Biloxi dry dock and marina told boat owners there.
A letter sent to the more than 200 boat owners directed them to remove their boats and trailers by Oct. 4, when the forklifts used to move the boats will be packed up and the facility will close.
“That has nothing to do with the restaurant,” said Shawn Gollott, who operates Gollott’s Fresh Catch Seafood Restaurant next to the marina.
It has operated since May 2018 and is known for its Gollott family recipes and outdoor dining with views and sunsets overlooking the Back Bay.
“The restaurant will remain open and operating as is,” Gollott said Wednesday.
Ferrara Land Management Mississippi LLC acquired property at the end of Eighth Street in Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The company reconstructed the marina with a massive storage building and built the restaurant with a soaring ceiling in the dining room that opens to multi-level waterfront decks.
The marina is adjacent to the former Heinz pet food plant and proposed casino site.
“After 10 years of operations, we have resolved to the fact that this is not a profitable business,” management said in an email Wednesday.
“We cannot compete with the city-owned marinas and therefore, we have made the decision to close and return the property to the property owner with all the $6 million in enhancements.”
