A positive COVID-19 test of a worker at Coppins Restaurant and Bar at Hotel Covington has caused the restaurant in the high-profile urban hotel to close until further notice.

The restaurant, named for the former department store building that Hotel Covington now occupies, features an extensive outdoor dining area.

The restaurant and bar revealed the positive coronavirus test in a social media post.

“Coppin’s will be closed until we feel it safe for our employees and guests to return,” stated the post.

Employees have been notified and encouraged to take a COVID-19 test, according to the release. They will remain home until Coppins know they are healthy, according to the release.

Additional sanitizing and deep cleaning procedures will be implemented during the restaurant’s closure, the release states.

⁣Hotel Covington has twice been featured in New York Times travel articles since opening in 2016. Coppins has been open at Hotel Covington since 2016.
