There have been many changes to our lives since the coronavirus pandemic began, from working from home and bar closures to lengthy queues at supermarkets and lockdown haircuts.

One big change that has affected so many is the rules against large weddings, meaning many have postponed their big day in order to celebrate ‘properly’ once things are back to normal.

New restrictions came into force this week, limiting weddings to 15 guests at the maximum, despite originally allowing 30 back in July when events were started up again.

The guidance says ceremonies and receptions with 15 guests must take place in Covid secure venues.

The 15-person limit includes the couple, witnesses and guests but people working, such as a priest or a celebrant are not included.

While the pandemic has certainly put some people off, many have chosen to go through with their big day no matter what – and now one Liverpool company is offering to provide free drinks to couples who are getting married during the lockdown.

Liverpool’s Aintree Gin, who produce a range of gin in celebration of the world famous Aintree racecourse, is offering a bit of cheer to those who’ve had their wedding plans disrupted.

The company wants anyone who is getting married while the coronavirus restrictions are still in place to get in touch – and it will provide a range of complimentary gin for their wedding reception.

Sean Roche, at Aintree Gin, said: “These have been extremely challenging times for everyone, especially those who’ve had their big day interrupted by the new rules.

“Although the restrictions are vitally important, we want to help those who are still getting married by providing complimentary wedding drinks.

“Anyone who is getting married during the Covid-19 restrcitons should contact us and we’ll supply a range of our delicious gin for their wedding reception. It is the least we can do to spread a little bit of cheer. We’re offering it to people who are getting married in Liverpool.

“Earlier this year, we worked tirelessly during the pandemic to help those on the frontline by providing them with Aintree Gin sanitiser products.

“We wanted to give people the necessary resources to ensure that they could work safely. We’re proud to help the people of Liverpool and want to do so wherever we can.

“We’re now inviting people who are getting married to come forward to claim their free drinks so we can help them have a day to remember, despite the challenging circumstances.”
