Owners of a local restaurant want all restaurants to be on alert after a man stole money from their tip jar.The owners of Lindburgers Family Restaurant and Bar in Delray Beach shared this security footage with WPBF 25 News, that shows a man stealing up to $8 from the tip jar on the evening of Aug. 18. He then sat at a table and left the establishment without ordering anything.The security footage shows the man, who has not been identified, repeatedly sticking his hand in the tip jar and removing four different bills. It’s unclear if any $5 bills were taken. The man is described as a white male with a heavy build, black hair, full facial hair and wearing a sleeveless T-shirt.“It wasn’t very much. It wasn’t the amount that was really the point,” said Dianne McFarlane, a manager at the restaurant.“Times are tough right now. We’re in the middle of a pandemic, everyone’s hours are cut and it’s really hard to see someone take from people who are struggling,” said Paige Fraser, a server and host at the restaurant. “We’re a small restaurant. We have about 20-something tables and we’re at about half that so it’s just really hard for someone to come in and take something from us that we work really hard for.”The CEO of Lindburgers Family Restaurant and Bar in Delray Beach, Andrew McFarlane, is asking all restaurants in the area to be on the lookout for possible similar thefts.“It makes you quite sad considering there are people walking around doing things like that in restaurants and essentially we want other restaurant owners and servers there are people out there who would potentially do this to your local restaurant so I just hope it doesn’t happen to any other local restaurant,” said Andrew McFarlane.Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Delray Beach Police Department at 561-243-7888.
