Where longtime coffee shop closed, a newcomer to ‘restaurant row’ will open in Boise

Torri Donley

If you predicted that a new restaurant would go into the space vacated by Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters, well, you nailed it.

Cupbop, a Korean barbecue chain founded in Utah, plans to open at 298 N. 8th St. — the corner of 8th and Bannock streets.

The fast-casual restaurant could be dishing up hot noodles as soon as the end of this month, says Michael Bevans, whose franchise group owns the Treasure Valley locations. Cupbop also operates in Idaho at 1520 W. Chinden Blvd. in Meridian and 1471 Caldwell Blvd. in Nampa.

Spokane-based Thomas Hammer shuttered its Boise store in August after about a decade and a half on 8th Street. It shared the block with popular dining destinations such as Bittercreek Alehouse, Eureka!, The Funky Taco and PieHole.

“… We are really excited about this spot,” Bevans said in an email, “and to be part of ‘restaurant row.’ ”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh has given up non-vegetarian food, black coffee and aerated drinks for a cause. Earlier this year, Riteish and his wife Genelia D’Souza had pledged to donate their organs.

“I have given up non-vegetarian food, black coffee and aerated drinks. I want to keep my body healthy. And eventually, when the time comes for donating my organs, people should say, ‘Jaate jaate healthy organs chhod kar gaya‘ (he left healthy organs),” said Riteish.

He also shared how he and his wife decided to donate organs. “We (Genelia and Riteish) have been thinking about this (organ donation) for a few years now. During this lockdown, we got a lot of time to think about what we should do. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of information on organ donation like where to go and how to go about the process,” said the actor

Shortly after the show went live, the word “entanglement” (which was what Jada said she had with August) was everywhere, as were memes showing Will appearing emotional. But now the couple is setting the record straight about the latter, saying that the problem was actually too much coffee and a late night shoot.

Molson Coors to distribute La Colombe RTD coffees as hard coffee trial closes | Beverage Industry News

Torri Donley

Molson Coors Beverage Co has confirmed the conclusion of its alcoholic RTD cold brew coffee trial in the US, choosing instead to team with the brand’s owner, La Colombe Coffee Roasters, in a US distribution deal for its namesake standard RTD coffee portfolio.

Starting in January, Molson Coors will handle the distribution of La Colombe’s Draft Latte and Brazilian Cold Brew lines to certain parts of the US off-premise channel. The agreement comes just over a year after the two companies trialled two 4.2% abv cold brew coffees in selected US markets.

When contacted by just-drinks today, a spokesperson for Molson Coors said the pilot “concluded last year”.

While the non-alcoholic RTD coffee range already has a presence in the multiple retailer channel, as well as in La Colombe’s branded coffee shops, Molson Coors will be focusing its efforts on convenience and drug stores across the country.

12 Tastiest Homemade Coffee Drinks

Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte may reign supreme as the signature hot beverage of fall, but its nutrition profile isn’t one to make you skip giddily through autumn leaves. A 16-ounce PSL provides 380 calories, more sugar than three Twinkies, and a startling 40% of your daily saturated fat. This is why making your very own homemade coffee drinks would likely be a much healthier option.

As a nutritionist, I’ll happily drink the occasional PSL, but I’m always on the hunt for a satisfying hot drink that doesn’t overdo it on sugar, calories, and unhealthy fats. I find that making my own comforting cup at home can usually let me keep all the fall feels—without the nutritional excesses. I recommend these lightened-up (but still super flavorful) homemade coffee drinks for sweater weather.
